Police on Tuesday identified the victim found dead in a Northside Dumpster on Friday and said they have charged a woman and three men in connection with the slaying.

Investigators said the body found beaten and shot in the a bin at the Water's Edge Apartments was that of 17-year-old Donald Washington III.

"(It was) wrapped in a sheet and blanket, with obvious trauma to his head and body," Jacksonville Sheriff's Office Lt. Pat Ivey said.

Ivey said Washington was beaten several miles away at the Eureka Gardens Apartments and the body dumped at the apartment complex along the Trout River.

Investigators said Washington was beaten because the suspects thought he was involved in an armed robbery the previous day.

"Apparently there was a robbery. I don't even believe it was reported to police and they believed initially the victim had partaken in that incident, but that has not been verified by us," Ivey said.

Investigators said Derrise Howard, 26, lured Washington into an apartment, where three men were waiting for him.

According the arrest report, Eric Sanders, 25, and Bobby Tollerson, 21, used hands, fists and an exercise bar that looked like a chromed stick to beat Washington.

Police said Jonathan Mott, 27, was in the Eureka Gardens apartment and kept the victim from getting way.

After the severe beating, police said the victim was wrapped into blankets and placed into the trunk of Tollerson's car and the three of them drove to the complex along the Trout River and dumped the body.

According to police documents, Sanders told one of the others that he then shot the victim once after the body was in the Dumpster.

Howard, Sanders and Tollerson are each charged with murder.

Mott, who police say did not participate in the beating, is charged with accessory after the fact.

Investigators said Washington is the tenth juvenile killed in Jacksonville this year.
