4 escape before fire destroys Northside home

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Two women and two children escaped safely from a Northside home that was destroyed by fire Monday morning, according to Jacksonville Fire-Rescue.

Firefighters said the fire started about 9:50 a.m. in a back bedroom of the home on Bird Road. No one was in that room at the time, and the fire quickly spread to the attic, firefighters said.

The State Fire Marshal is investigating the cause, which is not believed to be suspicious.

The Red Cross is assisting the family.

The Red Cross is also assisting a family of four whose home was damaged by an attic fire in the 2500 block of Quail Avenue on the Northside on Monday.
