4 in court in Clay County detective's killing

CLAY COUNTY, Fla. – Motions hearings continued Tuesday in the case against four people awaiting trial in the shooting death of Clay County Detective David White in 2012.

White was shot and killed by 36-year-old Ted Tilley in the raid of a suspected meth house. Tilley was killed by other deputies.

Four people in the house -- Chasity Prescott, Jennifer Alder, Ryan Wilder and Jerry Daniels -- are all charged with murder, and all were present in the courtroom Tuesday. Prescott, Alder and Wilder are charged with felony murder, while Daniels is charged with third-degree murder.

County Sheriff's Office Detective David White was shot and killed by an armed suspect at a home on Alligator Boulevard in Middleburg, Fla., about 6:25 p.m. Thursday.

The judge didn't rule on anything Tuesday but instead ordered the suspects back in court at the end of the month.

The motions being looked at include everything from a change of venue to a challenge of the suspects' interrogations that night.

Attorneys took turns questioning the special agents with the Florida Department of Law Enforcement, and their interest turned to Tilley's background.

"And you also investigate other matters concerning Mr. Tilley? For example, he was involved with any group under investigation?" one attorney asked.

"There was some information that came out that he was possibly involved with the Aryan Brotherhood," FDLE Agent Vincent Cassidy said.

The judge has several motions to consider. The defense also wants to know if the home was, in fact, an active meth house the night White was killed. In trying to find out, pictures of objects taken from the crime scene were shown to the court.

A status conference is scheduled for later this month. The defense has not yet called any witnesses.

White's widow was in the courtroom Tuesday.
