JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -

Police have four people in custody after a Jeep crashed into a yard on the Eastside. Investigators said the suspects may be linked to an armed robbery where a victim was shot.

Around 2:15 a.m. Wednesday, police responded to a home on West 17th Street in reference to a robbery, according to Sgt. Randolph of the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office.

They found someone at the home with a gunshot wound.

"He was transported to Shands [UF Health] with non-life-threatening injuries," said Randolph.

Police said the victim was walking on 18th street when he was robbed by several men and shot. He then ran to his home on West 17th Street and called police.

About 30 minutes later, police ended up following a Jeep, and a pursuit ensued on 16th Street at Main Street, according to Randolph. The pursuit ended when the Jeep crashed a few miles away on 10th Street and Florida Avenue.

Four people in that Jeep are in custody, but police believe five people were in the car.

"As far as the fifth subject, we're early in the investigating and robbery suspects are working to get that taken care of," Randolph said.

Randolph said the suspects are believed to be involved in the armed robbery that occurred on West 18th Street.

"We have four individuals detained that we're talking to in the robbery office right now," Randolph said.
