ORLANDO, Fla. -- A central Florida teenager survived a six-story fall after he failed on his try to leap from the top of one downtown parking garage to another Friday.
Timothy Paul Bargfrede, 18, of Longwood, suffered a broken shoulder and other fractures in the 3 a.m. accident, said his father, Tim Bargfrede.
The younger Bargfrede and an unidentified friend realized they were at the wrong parking garage, so the friend jumped from one roof to the other, about a 2½-foot leap, Orlando police Lt. Orlando Rolon said.
But Bargfrede fell when he tried to jump, Rolon said. During the fall down about six floors, he became wedged between the two buildings.
Orlando firefighters had to cut through the concrete to free Bargfrede, Rolon said.
"He's very lucky to be alive," his father told the
Orlando Sentinel.
