Unruly Man Jailed After Trying To Grab St. Marys Officers' Guns
POSTED: Tuesday, May 31, 2005
A man believed to be intoxicated when police were called got in much more serious trouble when he became belligerent with St. Marys officers and tried to grab their guns not once, but twice.
Last Thursday, police were called to check a person who was reported to be unruly at the Village Oaks Mobile Home Park. Police encountered, Eric J. Pelletier, 40, saying he was unsteady on his feet, slurred his speech and smelled of alcohol.
When he became belligerent and reached for one officer's gun, Pelletier was arrested and placed in the back of a patrol car, where he used his head to try to smash the window.
Pelletier was taken to Camden Medical Center for a mental evacuation. Once there, he attempted to grab another officer's gun.
After he was examined he was arrested and charged with two counts of attempting to remove a firearm from an officer and one count of obstruction of an officer.
