University Of Florida Drops To 18th In Party-School Rank
POSTED: Tuesday, August 23, 2005
MADISON, Wis. -- The University of Florida ranks in the top 20 among the scores of universities in the United States in at least one category -- that of party schools.
The University of Florida is ranked 18th in the annual list by the
Princeton Review, continuing to drop after being ranked fifth three years ago.
University of Georgia, which was No. 8 in the 2004 list, was ranked 12th this year. Florida State University, which ranked sixth in the 2004 list, has dropped out of the top 20 list.
The University of Wisconsin-Madison topped the list despite a decade-long effort by school officials to reduce its reputation for heavy drinking.
Meanwhile, Brigham Young University was tops among "stone-cold sober" schools for the eighth straight year.
The list isn't affiliated with Princeton University, but based on online surveys of more than 110,000 college students and is included in the
Princeton Review's "Best 361 Colleges."
The top party schools rankings are based on survey responses regarding alcohol and drug use, hours of study each day, and the number of students in fraternities and sororities.
