It's time for another edition of 4 Chords -- where we shine the spotlight on local musicians. This morning -- a brother and sister and two of their closest friends are finding success in the local rock scene. They've been performing since they were very young. But as 4 Chords reporter Jennifer Kessinger tells us -- they never expected to play together. 3 Lawless Hearts was born out of necessity -- when big sis needed to find a band in a pinch. But after writing a few songs together -- they knew they had something special. And in case you thought good old fashioned rock and roll was gone -- this is the band that will prove you wrong. 3 0-553-58119-126 They're a band that will get your heart pumping -- and your foot tapping. For the past four years -- Lawless Hearts has been taking the local rock scene by storm. It all started when a brother and sister -- Michael and Alex Thomas -- decided to put their sibling rivalries aside -- at least temporarily."Oh yeah, we definitely get into some disagreements every now and then." Both are graduates of Douglas Anderson school of the arts -- and their parents have always been their biggest support, even helping them come up with their name."My mom was sleeping, like this, and I walked in and she pops up and says, 'Lawless Hearts,' and falls back asleep." After recruiting drummer Corey Alquist and bass player Jay Brown -- the band was complete -- and they clicked from day one."If this band's gonna make it, it's this line up." And even though they're in their 20s -- their musical tastes span several decades -- from 80s hair metal to today's top 40."If it moves and it makes people move and it makes somebody else feel something, we all have a way of taking something from that and appreciating it.And that's really what we aim to do when we write songs is to make people move." But even with so many influences -- they have one message that comes across loud and clear."We're Lawless Hearts, and we're here for the long run. It's been a long haul and we just can't wait for the rest of our journey."
