The Columbia County Sheriff's Office shut down and seized three separate clandestine methamphetamine operations over the weekend, arresting five people in all.
On Saturday, deputies executed a search warrant at 296 S.E. Scarlett Way, where they smelt a strong chemical odor consistent with a meth lab.
Deputies said they found items and chemicals in the home used to manufacture methamphetamine. They said a suspect, Raymond Lee Chandler, was found hiding in a shed on the property, along with additional chemicals and paraphernalia used to manufacture methamphetamine.
Chandler and Deborah Lee, both 46 and of Lake City, were arrested.
A second meth lab was seized following a traffic stop for for an expired license plate at the intersection of Southwest Pinemount Road and Deputy Jeff Davis Lane. Deputies said a backpack was discovered in the car that contained the necessary materials and chemicals to produce methamphetamine.
Keith Wheeldon, 32, of Lake City, was arrested. He was released from the Columbia County Detention Facility in February on bond stemming from an arrest in December on a charge of manufacturing methamphetamine.
On Sunday, a meth lab was found by deputies at the Columbia Motel on East Duval Street.
Deputies said they found an active meth lab and evacuated the adjoining rooms.
Jason Gibbs, 38, of Astatula, and Misty Lane-Alyousef, 41, of Lake Butler, were arrested. Gibbs had an active arrest warrant from Lake County on meth charges.
