55-year-old convicted in sex crime involving teen

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – A 55-year-old Jacksonville man was convicted Thursday evening on three counts of battery and two counts of unlawful sexual activity with certain minors.

In June 2012, Alexander Silvers had sex with a 17-year-old girl at his home. During the crime, the victim was able to get away from Silvers and contact a friend for help.

The friend rescued the teen from Silvers' home.

The victim then contacted her mother, who called police.

Silvers faces 33 years in prison. He will be sentenced Oct. 21.
