a sinkhole opens up in a small town just west of gainesville...and we've just gotten pictures of what it looks like from the air..THE ALACHUA COUNTY SHERIFF'S OFFICE launched its helicopter and got this view of the sink hole in JONESVILLE...the hole is located on private property across from a business park... our own Vic Micolucci took us even CLOSER -- right after the ground collapsed.. 3 3 3 0 - 6 7 - 12 59 - 106 140 - 145Vic - we actually counted seven different sinkholes opening up here on this large property just west of Gainesville and Jonesville. That sinkhole that you're looking at on the other side of the fence is actually the largest. It may not look that impressive on video, but trust me once you were standing right next to it it is definitely much bigger than you would think.I would estimate probably 50 feet wide and 30 feet deep. There are experts out here right now looking out it. They say there was a day luge of rain over the weekend and that's possibly one of the reasons why all these sinkholes started up. But one expert told me that he seen them for the past couple of weeks and he knew that this field was going to be a problem. The good news of course is there are no buildings or homes nearby so really we are just talking about dirt and grass falling into the ground. I'll large amount of this property is getting swallowed up into earth right now. I talked to a sinkhole expert who says this is the largest he is ever seen. Sot Brian - it's just a really big one. From what I have seen. I know right now there's one whole, you've got another one over there, same side of the wall as this one. And behind that tractor there's another one.Vic tag - and the sinkholes are about 2 to 300 yards away from the headquarters from campus USA here in Jonesville. While the employees have enjoyed coming out and looking at it, taking pictures, it has not affected their day-to-day operations at all and all is well inside that building. The property manager tells me right now, he is trying to fill in these holes, and make sure the property is safe once again, VM, ch4, TLS.
