FDLE: Navy Petty Officer Charged With Computer Pornography

Investigators with the Florida Department of Law Enforcement's Computer Crime Section, Tallahassee police and the Department of Defense Criminal Investigative Service ended a two-month investigation into online pornography Friday afternoon with the arrest of a Navy petty officer from Jacksonville.

William Miles Clarke, 41, was charged with one count of computer pornography -- a third-degree felony.

According to the FDLE, the investigation began Dec. 29, 2005, when Clarke began communicating via America Online with a special agent posing online as a 14-year-old girl.

During the next two months, Clarke expressed in sexually graphic terms a repeated desire to personally meet the girl.

Clarke was arrested at about noon, when he arrived at a local restaurant in Tallahassee where he allegedly planned to meet the girl.

"This once again demonstrates that despite extensive recent publicity regarding such arrests, our children remain extremely vulnerable to online predators," FDLE Special Agent Bob Breeden said.

Anyone with more information regarding Clarke is asked to call the FDLE's Computer Crime Center at (850) 410-7052.
