LIVE OAK, Fla. -

Eight inmates and two other people were hurt early Sunday morning when a private prison transport van they were riding in was struck by a car going the wrong way on Interstate 10.

The Florida Highway Patrol said the crash happened about 4 a.m. in Suwannee County when a BMW driven by Charles Henry Glover, 59, of Jacksonville, eastbound in a westbound lane struck the van head-on.  The driver of the van suffered minor injuries and the front passenger was critically injured.  Both are from Tennessee.

Glover and the van's passenger were taken Shands Medical Center in Gainesville for treatment.  The eight prisoners were treated at various northeast Florida hospitals.
