KISSIMMEE, Fla. -

Eight students were injured Friday when a school bus was involved in a crash in Kissimmee, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

The crash occurred around 3 p.m. on Reaves Road near Pleasant Hill Road. Southbound lanes of Reaves were closed because of the wreck.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, the private school bus from Bell Lago Charter School collided with a pickup truck pulling a trailer while the bus was on the way to the Academy of Martial Arts.

Eight children were aboard the bus, and one of them was airlifted to Arnold Palmer Hospital, the FHP said.

The owner of the Academy of Martial Arts said one child was thrown from the van.

Two children were taken by ground to Osceola Regional Hospital and two children were taken to Florida Hospital.

The Academy of Martial Arts is working to contact parents.

No other details were immediately released.

Florida Highway Patrol is investigating the scene.
