Body Found Near Scene Of Boating Accident

POSTED: Tuesday, April 18, 2006

A body spotted floating in the St. Johns River near Lyons Club Park in Arlington may be the body of a man who disappeared after a boating accident over the weekend, according to investigators.

The Coast Guard searched for 47-year-old Edward Clark for hours after the 10-foot boat he was in with his wife and a friend capsized early Sunday morning after one of them threw an anchor in the water.

According to the Coast Guard, Clark's wife and his friend swam to shore, but Clark swam back out to try and save his dog.

A boater called police Tuesday when he saw a man's body floating in the river.

The body found matches Clark's description, according to investigators.

Police also said the body of the dog Clark was trying to rescue was found on the shore of Constantine Island.
