(CNN) -- At least nine people were killed in Iraq on Tuesday, five in Kirkuk and four in Baghdad, police said.
Two car bombs exploded near police patrols in the oil-rich and ethnically volatile city of Kirkuk. At least 18 people were wounded as well.
Gunmen in Baghdad shot and killed the four in three incidents.
