Police say boy ran away, slept on porch of abandoned house

A 9-year-old boy who missing in the Grand Park neighborhood was found safe early Friday.
The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office said Terrell Hopkins left his home in the 2500 block of Olustee Street about 4:30 p.m. Thursday and a search was launched when he hadn't returned home by mid-evening.
Terrell was located about 7:15 a.m. Friday after a neighbor reported seeing the boy walking in front of his house.
Officers said the boy admitted hearing police calling his name, but ignored them. Police say the boy told them he "wanted to know what it felt like to be a grown up."
The boy said he slept on the porch of an abandoned house.
