Florida County Quietly Cashes In On Nudist Resorts

LAND O' LAKES, Fla. -- A small community north of Tampa is claiming a unique distinction: nudist capital of the world.The bare facts: The American Association of Nude Recreation says Pasco County is home to six nudist resorts and two nudist clubs, a unique cluster that has earned the community its nudist title.Resorts catering to tourists in the buff range from rustic 59-year-old Lake Como, Florida's original nudist camp, to the flashy facilities of the upscale Caliente Resort.State and local tourism officials don't go out of their way to advertise the community's naked abundance, but officials say nudists are good neighbors.Pasco County Commissioner Pat Mulieri said the "neighbors" provide a wide tax base." He also notes that people come from all over the world.
