JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- Recently some key people in Jacksonville's Fire Rescue Department have announced they are leaving.
Bennie Seth, a spokeswoman for the fire department, resigned Friday.
As she waited outside City Hall to deliver her resignation letter, Seth told Channel 4's Jim Piggott s she was asked by the mayor's office to resign, but that she did not know exactly why.
Some city leaders, such as councilwoman Glorious Johnson, said they have been worried about a recent string of resignations.
"I was surprised that the mayor has let her go and did not give no real reasons as to why they are letting her go. I am very concerned about that because when you have people that make a connection to the community that is what you want," Johnson said.
Seth's resignation has many wondering about what has been going on inside the fire rescue department.
The head of the Emergency Operation Center, Chip Patterson also recently announced that he would be leaving as soon as a replacement was found.
Patterson said it was his decision.
"You know, there is a concern anytime there is changeover. That is part of the reason I am staying in place until they bring a new person on board and we can give a good solid handoff of information and duties and things like that," Patterson said.
The mayor's office would not comment on why Seth was asked to leave.
"It's a personnel matter," said mayor's office spokeswoman Misty Skipper.
Seth is the sixth highly visible city employee to go in recent weeks. The mayor office said there's a reason why it's all happening now.
"They are being sought after by private sector industry and we wish them well in those adventures," Skipper said.
Seth is expected to leave Sept. 1.
