JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -

A judge on Wednesday sentenced Nicholas Warren to spend the rest of his life in prison.

The 23-year-old was sentenced to two concurrent life terms on an August conviction on charges of attempted felony murder and armed robbery resulting.

The charges result from a March home invasion in which Warren and his co-defendant, James Taylor, broke into a Jacksonville Beach home. Prosecutors say the two used a crowbar to beat Matthew Longhway. Warren and Taylor also tried to shoot Longhway, but the gun jammed.

After the beating, Warren took TVs, a laptop and other electronics from the home. Warren was convicted in 2008 for grand theft auto and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. He was released from prison in November 2009.

Last month, James Taylor pleaded guilty to charges of attempted felony murder and armed robbery. He was sentenced to 11 years in prison.
