Channel 4 Told Stroller Child Was In Caught Fire

Jacksonville Fire and Rescue responded to a house fire in the 900 block of West 17th Street just before 8:30 p.m. Wednesday. JFRD confirmed that one pediatric patient was transported to Shands-Gainesville Medical Center in critical condition after sustaining severe burns.
Channel 4 was told the stroller the child was in caught fire and over 90 percent of the baby's body suffered burns.

Six other patients were transported to Shands-Jacksonville Medical Center with minor injuries. Of those six, five were children.
JFRD said that the fire started when a kerosene space heater was being moved to another room in the house and some fuel spilled. Officials said the father had extinguished the space heater before firefighters arrived.
