A bicyclist suffered life-threatening injuries after being struck by a car Friday morning.
Jacksonville police said the bicyclist pedaled against a red light, right in front of a car at Union and Davis streets downtown just before 11 a.m.
The car struck the bicyclist, then slammed into a pole, police said.
The bicyclist, whose name was not immediately released, was taken to Shands Jacksonville Medical Center.
The driver was also taken to Shands with less serious injuries.
