?We are thrilled and honored that Mark Brunell will be our guest speaker. His commitment to charities that help children and families, including his own Foundation, is inspiring and we are delighted that he supports our vision,? said Tammy McGuire, founder and president of Foster Closet, a 100 percent volunteer-run non-for-profit organization that has helped 1200 foster children in northeast Florida in the past year.
Foster Closet enables foster parents and relative and non-relative placements in Duval, St. John, Clay, Baker and Nassau counties to ?shop for free? for gently-used clothing from infant through adults sizes, books, toys, car seats, etc. to help take care of the foster children entrusted to them. The local community generously donates these items.
Tammy has developed a dedicated network of volunteers, of social workers, of foster parents, and of members of the community in her commitment to improve the lives and care for foster children.
Foster Closet?s newest program, The Pathway, helps teens who are leaving the foster care system begin the journey of their independent lives by providing anything they would need to start life on their own, including furniture, kitchen supplies and other household items.
Foster Closet also arranges for Life Guides to act as mentors to help guide the teens in achieving their goals, as well as keep them on task with daily living skills.
