JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -

Police are trying to identify a man seen using a credit card that was stolen from a vehicle parked in a Baymeadows shopping center Saturday evening.

Police said the car was parked at Planet Fitness in the 8600 block of South Old Kings Road when someone shattered its window and stole a wallet from inside between 6 p.m. and 7:08 p.m.

Investigators said immediately after the burglary, a man went into a CVS store in the 6000 block of St. Augustine Road after getting out of a small Chevrolet SUV.

The man bought a $200 American Express gift card with the victim's stolen credit card, police said. They said he then left the store and went to a Publix in the 2800 block of University Boulevard in Arlington and bought two Best Buy $100 gift cards.

Police said they have been seeing a recent trend of vehicles being broken into at gyms and fitness centers. They said people tend to leave their wallets, purses and valuables inside their vehicles while they go inside to work out, making it a target-rich environment for burglars.

Anyone with any information about the identity or whereabouts of the burglar in this case is asked to call the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office at 904-630-0500 or Crime Stoppers at 866-845-TIPS.
