  • Charity Owner Saved By Bible Robbed Again

    JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -

A Jacksonville man said his life was spared when a Bible stopped a bullet from hitting him, but weeks after the shooting he said it's not his life but his charitable cause that's in danger.

Bill Henry said he was ambushed by two men with a rifle while he was carrying out the trash in early November, but two small Bibles in his shirt pocket stopped a bullet and possibly saved his life.

He said the shooting was part of one of several recent robbery attempts of his charity organization.

Henry owns America's Heart, a Christian charity organization that ships medical supplies to third-world countries.

Last weekend, the organization was broken into, again.

"We were hit in July. We were hit in August. We were hit on the fifth and sixth of October," Henry said. "At the end of October, they got us four consecutive nights and that came in excess of $850,000.

Henry said he is looking for a little divine intervention.

"It's very frustrating. It's almost screaming frustrating," Henry said. "There's been the robberies, the shootings and the threats. Apparently somebody doesn't love me very much."

Despite the rash of burglaries, threats and being shot, Henry said he is staying put.

"I'm not going anywhere. They can keep it up as long as they live. I have no intention of going anywhere," Henry said.

Since the shooting, Henry has installed surveillance cameras, which police reports state recorded "the suspects enter the building with handguns raised to their eye level. The video shows the suspects entering empty handed and exiting with inventory from America's Heart."

Henry said he hopes police can catch the crooks because he wants to keep doing the Lord's work, but lately he's starting to feel like Job.

"We're working everywhere, both domestically and abroad, and I just can't walk away from that," Henry said.

The supplies that were stolen from Henry's organization were supposed to go to impoverished people in northern Afghanistan.

Anyone with information about the burglaries of America's Heart is asked to call Crimestoppers at 866-845-TIPS.
