Charter School Fails To Meet Rent Deadline
Lawyer Says HAI Investments Now Owns School's Personal Property In Building
Published On: Oct 31 2011 05:47:42 PM EDT Updated On: Nov 18 2009 05:04:19 AM ESTThe landlord for the Patterson Academy Charter School said the school didn't meet its deadline to pay back rent Wednesday.
The lawyer for HAI Investments, which owns the building, said the school didn't pay the $60,000 it owed by the noon deadline.
The lawyer said the company now owns the school's personal property that's inside, such as equipment and supplies.
The company has already sued the school to collect the rent.
The school still faces a deadline on Friday to turn in a plan of action to the Duval County School Board.
School district staff members have recommended that the school board end Patterson Academy's contract.
They're scheduled to vote on that Monday.
