The region’s only hospital just for kids will collect new, unwrapped toys during its first-ever “Christmas in July Toy Drive” on July 25, 2012, from 7 am – 2 pm at the front entrance of the hospital in downtown Jacksonville.
The event will feature holiday helpers like the summertime Surfin’ Santa, Mark Brunell’s children, Tony Boselli’s children, Jacksonville Jaguars celebrity guests, and Wolfie, the hospital’s mascot.
RPM Automotive locations throughout Jacksonville are serving as toy collection sites from now up to July 25. Go to www.rpmautomotive.com for a listing of locations.
Toys are needed now as the hospital’s toy supply typically dwindles during the summer months, away from the traditional spotlight of holiday giving and year-end charitable donations.
“We are confident that the community will take action once people know the toy supply at Wolfson Children’s Hospital is getting low because we have seen their generous spirit on countless occasions in the past,” says Hospital President Michael D. Aubin. “The comfort a toy brings a small child is priceless, and as a non-profit organization, we rely on charitable donations to provide world-class care for all children in the region.”
Wolfson Children’s Hospital treats more than 62,000 children each year in the North Florida-South Georgia region, using toys and art supplies to help soothe, distract and ease the anxieties of children of all ages during treatment for illness and injuries. New toys collected through the Christmas in July Toy Drive will restock the hospital’s playrooms and teen room, and help hospitalized children celebrate birthdays and other special occasions throughout the year.
