A new Coast Guard cutter from Miami is now docked at Mayport.
The U.S. Coast Guard cutter Valiant, along with its crew of 80, arrived at its new home Friday morning.
The vessel made the move from South Florida because the Coast Guard there is using more pier space for other boats, and the cruise ship industry is expanding.
The change allows the 210-foot cutter to be closer to maintenance and training.
The crew's duties while on board include fisheries enforcement, homeland and port security, as well as search and rescue.
