Defense Secretary Chuck Hagel is proposing to shrink the Army to its smallest size since before world war 2. He says the Pentagon will now focus more on special operations, cyberwar and high tech weapons. The Republican head of the House Armed Services Committee, Rep. Howard "Buck" McKeon, says the administration is trying to "solve our financial problems on the backs of our military." His Senate counterpart, Democratic Sen. Carl Levin, says the administration's changes face a "huge challenge." A TOP DOD SPOKESPERSON SAYS ABOUT 50-PERCENT OF DEFENSE COSTS ARE PERSONNEL AND THEY HAVE TO TRIM AND BALANCE THE BUDGET.
