A 36-year-old homeless man was arrested Sunday on suspicion of dragging an 11-year-old boy into a wooded area in east Orange County and molesting him.
Cristobal Pinera was arrested on charges of kidnapping a minor, lewd or lascivious molestation and false imprisonment of a child under 13 years old.
According to an arrest affidavit, the boy said he was walking near East Colonial Drive and Vincent Road around 9 a.m. and sat on a log when he was approached by the suspect, who eventually grabbed his arm and took him into the woods.
Pinera pulled down the boy's shorts and touched his genitalia with his hand, the affidavit stated. The boy became uncomfortable, broke loose and ran out of the woods, the affidavit said.
Pinera then reportedly offered the boy $10 not to tell authorities before fleeing the scene, the affidavit said. The boy then ran into a woman he knew, who took him home and told his mom to call the police.
Deputies located Pinera by a description given by the boy and the woman who took him home. They both positively identified Pinera, the arrest affidavit said.
Deputies booked Pinera into jail.
The incident is still under investigation.
