Georgia Gov. Nathan Deal and Atlanta Mayor Kasim Reed has met with NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell to discuss the possibility of a new stadium for the Atlanta Falcons.
Deal's spokesman Brian Robinson confirmed the Monday meeting, which he described only as a "courtesy meeting."
The Georgia World Congress Center Authority, a state entity, has been in conversations with Falcons owner Arthur Blank about a partnership to build a stadium that would replace the Georgia Dome.
The state's financial commitment would be bonds backed by the portion of the Atlanta hotel and motel tax that already goes to the Authority. But that would require the General Assembly to increase the Authority's borrowing limits.
Robinson said Deal has not yet taken a position on the matter.
