The lawyers for the man accused of shooting and killing a 17 year old in a fight over loud music - want more time to prepare for his trial. Tomorrow we will likely learn whether or not they'll get it. Channel 4's Scott Johnson has a look ahead at the latest on Michael Dunn's trial. 3 Dunn's lawyers say they're not ready...but i talked to a legal expert , and he says everyone else has put in a lot of work to make sure duval county is ready to try michael dunn... so likely the defense will have to be ready. 3 00-0619-25Michael Dunn's attorney is pushing for more time before this goes to trial...telling Judge Russell Healey he's simply overwhelmed by all the media requests for information on this trial... despite that local attorney Gene Nichols doesn't expect the judge to view that as a reason to push this back.GENE NICHOLS 17:14:46 - this case has been ready for trial for months. Not only is the defendant and lawyer ready, but the nation is ready. The sheriff's office has been putting out notices on where to park. They're putting out tents in the courtyard. The nation is going to be there to cover this trial.Nichols says this will be the first major test for the relatively new courthouse with handling a major trial with a national focus .... that focus being on michael dunn who's charged with murder for allegedly gunning down a black teenager at a southside gas station after an argument over loud music.Prosecutors do not want a delay... this is a statement released late last week "The State Attorney's Office will not try this case in the media and will comment further in the appropriate venue -- the courtroom," 17:15:10 - unless the defendatn's trial rights are being jeopardized by having the trial in the next couple weeks, judge healy is not going to delay. Unless there's a death in someone's immediate family judge healy is not going to continue this trial. then... unless the judge allows for a delay the trial will begin with jury selection on february third. 17:16:39 - I would fully expect it will take days or weeks to pick this jury. 'do you think they'll push for change of venue?' I don't think they will push for change of venue. We would've already seen that by now. I fully expect it to be tried in duval county. Even if they pushed for it now I expect it would get denied. 3 and the trial has caused for special procedures to be put in place for all the media to be allowed in the courtroom.... all the work that went into that is one reason why nichols doesn't think the judge will delay this any longer. Scott, what about the public? Can anyone sit in on the trial?
