The search for the next University of Florida president has not started, but there's already talk of who could be a candidate.
According to the Gainesville Sun, many school officials are favoring University of North Florida President John Delaney for the job.
Delaney said he has spoken with UF trustees about the job over the last year or two, but he said he is not interested.
Delaney and nine members of his family graduated from UF.
He said he plans to stay at UNF and has no intention of applying for the UF presidency.
"I am a Jacksonville guy and a UNF guy," Delaney said in a statement. "All of my four children are here, as is our extended family (with one exception) and my elderly parents. I plan on staying put and have no intention of applying."
UF President Bernie Machen announced last week he will end his tenure next year.
