Alachua County deputies arrested a 19-year-old man who they said killed his girlfriend's father Tuesday.
Investigators said the victim, Ronald Andrews, and his brother arrived at Andrews' Waldo home on Northeast 143rd Avenue just before 5 p.m.
Deputies said 46-year-old Andrews went to his daughter's bedroom, where he was confronted by Willard Newman. Deputies said Newman opened fire with a handgun and then fled from the home.
Andrews was pronounced dead at the home.
Deputies said they were conducting a search of the area when a call was received just before 6:30 p.m. from a home in Oak Park mobile home park indicating that Newman was involved in the killing. Deputies said a semi-automatic handgun was recovered at that location, as well as a black ski mask and gloves.
Detectives said they interviewed several witnesses, and Newman was arrested and charged with homicide and armed burglary.
The preliminary investigation indicated that Newman was involved in a relationship with Andrews' daughter, detectives said.
Newman was being held at the Alachua County jail.
