Deputies, dogs track murder suspect in Union County woods
Man wanted on murder, home invasion charges in Polk County captured
A man wanted in a home invasion robbery and murder in Polk County just over a week ago was captured Friday afternoon after Union County deputies assisted by bloodhounds from the Florida Department of Corrections found him hiding in a wooded area.
The Union County Sheriff's Office says they were notified by Polk County authorities that Walter "Tank" Morrison, 31, my be in the area. After a stolen car Morrison was driving was spotted in southwest Union County, deputies with the assistance of Department of Corrections and Florida Wildlife officers and K9 units tracked Morrison for hours.
Morrison was eventually taken into custody without incident.
Deputies said Morrison is a former Union County resident and has a violent criminal history.
Morrison was booked into the Union County Jail on Polk County warrants of first-degree murder, burglary and battery. He is being held without bond until he is extradited to Polk County.
