Flagler County deputies evacuated six homes Tuesday evening in connection with a fire at a home on Woodstone Lane in Palm Coast that started just before 11 p.m. and resulted in one person being hurt.
The state Fire Marshal has been called in to investigate the cause of the fire, which has initially been deemed suspicious, investigators said.
The Palm Coast Fire Department was able to extinguish the fire, which fully engulfed the home. Flames could be seen coming from the roof, according to deputies.
The resident, 54-year-old Harold Pizzetta, was found sitting in a chair in the corner of his fenced yard where he apparently had been during the fire and firefighting efforts, according to deputies. He said someone had broken in, set the fire and left.
Pizzetta was taken to Florida Hospital Flagler for treatment of burn injuries. Firefighters determined there were no other occupants of the home.
Deputies said the size of the fire and strong winds forced the evacuation of houses in the immediate area.
