A St. Augustine driver was flown to Shands Jacksonville in critical condition Friday night after St. Augustine police said the driver lost control of the car and sideswiped a parked SUV.
Police responded to the single vehicle crash just after 7:30 at 802 Anastasia Blvd. near Ocean Way in St. Augustine.
They said a white Nissan car was traveling northbound on Anastasia Boulevard when the driver sideswiped a parked SUV, lost control, jumped a curb and crashed into a parked car in the Lee and Cates parking lot.
According to witnesses, the vehicle was traveling at a high speed. Police estimated the car to be traveling at about 80 mph.
The accident is still under investigation.
