Duval County principal, 2 teachers face discipline
School Board will also consider creating 4 new administrastive posts
Among the items on the agenda of its first meeting of 2013, the Duval County School Board is to decide on disciplinary actions for a principal and two teachers.
The first is the proposed reassignment and pay reduction for Windy Hill Elementary School Principal Sharon Sanders after a district investigation found testing misconduct at the school.
James Weldon Johnson middle school teacher Stephanie Raver faces a 20-day suspension for a string of reported incidents including appearing under the influence during a parent conference, and telling students they were acting “retarded.”

Fletcher Middle School teacher Julie Bennett also faces a 20-day suspension. She yelled at and berated students in November, removed a student from her classroom, leaving the student unsupervised. Bennett then mimicked the remaining students in her class. Students told district officials Bennett acts like that routinely.
Also Monday night, the board is expected to discuss the creation of two new top administrative posts. Superintendent Nikolai Vitti is asking for four new administrative positions: chief of public relations and marketing, director of public relations and marketing, chief of intergovernmental affairs and executive director of instructional programs.
The four new positions would cost an estimated $400,000 in salaries and benefits, but Vitti believes that amount of money can be shifted from vacant positions.
The board will also consider ways for the district to become more compliant with Florida's class-size laws and work to develop a strategic turnaround plan for some priority schools.
Channel 4 is covering Monday night's meeting and will provide an update on the board's decision.
