A local family is in mourning tonight... Their loved one died in a terrible accident this morning... getting hit by several cars AND a tractor trailer on I-95 ... The Florida Highway Patrol says 82-year old Charles Sherrill died when trying to cross the interstate north of International Golf Parkway. He was trying to help his daughter-in-law who was stranded on the side of the road. The Florida Highway Patrol says at about 5:30 am, 61-year old Patricia Harris pulled over on the side of I-95 because her car was disabled, possibly overheating... she called her father-in-law who lived nearby...82-year old Charles Sherrill brought water and other equipment to help... Detectives say after the car hit Sherrill, he fell into the road ... the driver stopped. FHP says Sherrill was wearing dark clothing when he crossed 95 to help his daughter-in-law in need...
