Orange County firefighters were called out to 6021 Beggs Road near Apopka around 4 a.m. Sunday after reports came in of piles of mulch on fire.

When firefighters arrived at the fire, the found large piles of mulch burning that were being fanned by wind.

Fire officials said crews were able to quickly surround the piles and stop the threat to a local mobile home park and other businesses in the area.

Fire officials said there were no fire hydrants in the area and workers from the mulch business came to move it with front end loaders to help with the fire.

Orange County fire officials and the State Fire Marshal's office were trying to determine the cause of the fire.

Crews remained on-scene much of Sunday morning to watch over the smoldering mulch because of continued high winds.
