Now that the stadium name is official, new signs for EverBank Field will soon be in place.
The Jaguars and EverBank unveiled the new stadium logo during a news conference Wednesday, representing a valuable deal for the hometown franchise.
The first regular season home game is Sept. 12, and the team plans to have the new signs in place for that game.
The changes come just weeks after EverBank purchased the naming rights to the stadium.
"In order to be competitive in the league, you have to maximize revenue for the team," Jaguars sales and marketing representative Macky Weaver said. "And the naming fees is one part of a lot of different areas that revenue is generated for this organization."
The new look marks the beginning of a new chapter for the stadium after three years without a sponsorship deal or the revenue that comes with it.
Thanks to the new partnership, the Jaguars have a contract with EverBank worth $15 million.
Leaders with both EverBank and the Jaguars said the signs represent more than just a new name for the stadium. They said the signs go hand in hand with a new commitment to make sure the team stays in Jacksonville.
"If you look at the effort that's been put forth on ticket sales, sponsorship sales, naming rights, the involvement of players and the things that we're doing in the community, it's a compilation of all those things that are going to make us successful," Weaver said.
EverBank said there will be more than 400 signs in the stadium covering more than 34,000 square feet. The logo will not just be on signs but on tickets, cups, napkins and other stadium items.
