Officers in Gainesville are looking for a man who they say posed as policeman and raped a woman after telling her she was being detained for trespassing.
The Gainesville Sun reports the rape occurred Wednesday night in a wooded area near a partially-completed building.
Police say the 58-year-old victim argued with her boyfriend and went for a walk to cool off. She ended up outside the abandoned building.
According to police, a man approached her and said he was police officer and that she was trespassing. They fought as he tried to detain her. The man used zip ties to bind her fingers together before raping her.
After the rape, the man left and the woman walked home and called police early Thursday. She was hospitalized with facial injuries.
