Family and friends helped one woman say her final goodbyes to a child she never got to watch grow up.
They held a funeral Saturday afternoon for the woman's unborn child she lost during a block party shooting last month in Brooklyn. Shante Hill was 8 months pregnant when she was one of the 11 shot during the birthday party.
The group gathered, sang and prayed at the Solomon and Glover Funeral Home on the Northside this afternoon.
Shante Hill was 8-months pregnant when she was one of the 11 shot during a birthday party in the Brooklyn neighborhood.
"She's holding the best she can," said Hill's aunt Lisa Burney. "No one knows that pain."
Police arrested one person in connection with the shooting. 22-year-old Toddrick Ashley has been charged with possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
Police said a witness told them they saw Ashley pull a gun from his waistband and open fire.
The motive for the shooting may have come down to people from different parts of town not getting along. Investigators think it could be gang related.
