Since then Maurice has sung in four different bands. He also likes to keep his vocal chords warm by singing karaoke.
This self-described fitness buff works for a land development company.
Maurice was born in Fernandina Beach and raised in Callahan. One of his favorite things to do is meet new people.
Mark Dorsett Performs 'Bed Of Roses' Mark Dorsett of Jacksonville Wooing the judges with "Bed of Roses" in round four, Mark won yet another tie, and put himself in prime position to pursue his plans for pop stardom. When he's not making TV audiences swoon, he can be found serving up songs at Bravo Ristorante or studying music at FCCJ.
When Mark's not lighting up the TV screen on "Gimme the Mike!" he is often singing for his supper ... literally. Mark's a singing server at Bravo Restorante.
This Jacksonville native graduated from Douglas Anderson School of the Arts and is currently studying music at FCCJ. He'd like to be a music teacher when he "grows up."
Mark also hopes to make it big one day as a pop singer. He plays the guitar and writes his own music.
And when he's not singing, Mark often watches football. He's a big Jaguars and Gators fan.
Mark second job is at Michaels where he's a certified framer.

Earning "Gimme the Mike!'s" highest score ever with "How Come You Don't Call Me Anymore," she also broke the show's all male winning streak. And if all that wasn't incredible enough, Jamilia's competing while carrying twins.
Jamilia comes from a family of singers and has been letting her voice ring since she was 4.
Jamilia's looking forward to starting her own singing family very soon. She and her husband, Anthony, are expecting twins in December.
Singing has provided this Jacksonville native with a lot of wonderful opportunities. Jamilia sang for Alicia Keyes at a youth talent showcase in Atlanta and she made it to the second round for the "American Idol" show.
Jamilia works for Metris Co. as a collector.
Wild-Card Winner Viewers funneled five favorites into the wild-card bracket, then selected their top choice to get a second chance at the stage. Tonight's show will reveal the audience pick, chosen by online vote, and the name of the viewer who won a Bajaj Chetak Scooter, just for casting a vote.
Viewers are sure to recognize the songs chosen by the finalists, including Faith Hill's "There You'll Be," Brian McComas' "99.9% Sure," "On the Wings of Love," by Jeffery Osbourne, Johnny Gill's "My, My, My," "No One in the World" by Anita Baker, and "Faithfully," by Journey.
At the judges table, "Gimme the Mike!" regulars Deborah McDuffie of the Ritz Voices, and talent agent Rich Hersey, will be back to see their previous picks face off in the final round. They'll have help from Amadeus, popular radio personality/producer of the Big Ape Morning Zoo, on WAPE 95.1, and Michael Higgins, from the Douglas Anderson School of the Arts.
