State officials confirm that a body pulled from Lake Lanier is that of a fisherman who has been missing since Feb. 11.
The Georgia Department of Natural Resources confirmed that the body found near Mary Alice Park is the remains of 47-year-old George "Marty" Counts of Tucker.
Agency spokeswoman Melissa Cummings tells The Times of Gainesville that Counts' body was found in the Little Ridge area of the lake in Forsyth County by two fishermen Sunday.
Counts was an avid fisherman, and was believed to be operating his boat when it was spotted going in circles with no one aboard. The boat ran out of gas and was on the bank when rangers arrived. The initial search for Counts lasted several days and involved various agencies.
