A Flagler County dog park was shut down because a dog that had been there became seriously ill from a common virus, county officials said Friday.

Wadsworth Park is on Moody Boulevard in Flagler Beach.

The county has called in the University of Florida to determine if the park is contaminated with parvovirus.

A veterinarian notified the county that he was treating a dog, officials said.

Without treatment, the virus is usually fatal. It is also highly contagious and is spread through dog feces.
