Joe Crevasse died Monday night.
Crevasse, 96, served 21 years as Alachua County Sheriff from 1955 to 1976. He served as the University of Florida's first police chief from 1947-1955.
Visitation will be held at Williams Thomas West at 823 Northwest 143rd St., Newberry from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Tuesday.
Funeral services will be held at First United Methodist Church downtown at 419 Northeast First Street in Gainesville beginning at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday.
The internment will follow the funeral service at Forest Meadows East Cemetery at 3700 Southeast Hawthorne Road in Gainesville.
A reception will be held at the Alachua County Sheriff's Office at 2621 Hawthorne Road in Gainesville from about 4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. Wednesday.
