A Sandalwood High School teacher who died earlier this week following a motor scooter crash will be remembered at services on Saturday.

Police said 28-year-old James Belyea lost control of his scooter on Aug. 23 and crashed on Huffman Boulevard, near Florida State College at Jacksonville's South Campus.

He remained hospitalized until his death on Tuesday. 

Belyea's family says his funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Southpoint Community Church, 7556 Salisbury Road.

A Facebook page -- Prayers for James Belyea -- is promoting a fundraiser for "The James Fund" to be held Sept. 11 at Chic-fil-A on Atlantic Boulevard.
