October 30: Disney buys Lucasfilm for $4 billion
A decade since George Lucas said "Star Wars" was finished on the big screen, a new trilogy under new ownership is destined for theaters. That news came as The Walt Disney Co. announced that it would buy Lucasfilm Ltd. from Lucas for $4.05 billion. The seventh movie, with a working title of "Episode 7," is set for release in 2015. Episodes 8 and 9 will follow.
A representative for the "Star Wars" creator, George Lucas confirms he's engaged to businesswoman Mellody Hobson.
The two have been dating for seven years.
This will be the second marriage for 68-year-old Lucas and the first for 43-year-old Hobson, who is president of a Chicago-based investment management firm.
Hobson also serves as chairman of DreamWorks Animation and is a financial contributor to ABC's "Good Morning America."
