Published On: Oct 07 2011 02:53:53 PM EDT Updated On: Jun 22 2011 07:35:48 AM EDTThe Georgia Bureau of Investigation said a state prison guard is facing multiple charges after being shot during a standoff with officers at his home in Jesup.
Allen is charged with threatening his wife and their three children during a domestic dispute on Monday.
When officers arrived, they said 47-year-old Vincent Allen allegedly refused to give up his high-powered rifle, which led to a standoff with Jesup police, Wayne County sheriff's deputies and Georgia State Patrol troopers.
During the standoff, officers say Allen fired the weapon in the presence of the officers. After Allen was arrested, it was found he had been injured in the standoff.
GBI special agent Mike McDaniel said a state trooper fired a shot as Allen tried to flee. He was treated for a wound to the buttocks and is being held at the Wayne County jail.
McDaniel said Allen was arrested charges of aggravated assault, reckless conduct with a weapon, cruelty to children and felony obstruction of law enforcement officers.
